Finished custom order

I do apologise folks I did say I would post about my finished custom order and I forgot. Well here it is... I drew the shape of the owl to get the base pattern piece then cut a wing shape to make the wing pattern and did the same for the beak, peak and 'ears'.

I made the eyes using felt, then hand stitched the to the body, the peak is made from the same fabric as the wings and the beak is felt, the 'ears' are made from the same fabric as the feet and the right one has thin batting inside to give some firmness to it. The ears, peak and beak were stitched in place first then I applied the eyes.

I used thick wadding inside to ensure a nice quilted feather finish to the body. I hand stitched the wings onto the body.

The full moon is made of felt with thick wadding inside and the hanger is 22 gauge wire.

The feet have thinner batting inside and machine stitched to give the impression of the toes. The branch is from my garden and makes the perfect finish.

This owl is double sided so my customers daughter can hang it in her room's window so both she and her fellow students get to enjoy him.

My customer absolutely adores him.

Custom order begun...

I have started work on a custom order this weekend for a very special customer. My customer asked me to make her daughter an owl to go with her pumpkin I made last year. I painted the design in water colours depicting the fabric I had chosen and to give her an idea of what the finished owl will look like.

Today I made the pattern pieces and got all the pattern pieces cut out.

But before I can begin sewing my poor sewing machine was in need of a much needed service, so I cave it a good clean and oil. In the process I discovered that the bulb that I thought had gone was simply loose and just needed tightening :o)
My machine is now running nice and smooth and best of all silently.

When I have delivered the finished owl to my customer I will share photos of it with.
Bright blessings
