Housework can wait...

I have decided that after many days and weeks of cold weather and working in the garden, the one day of gorgeousness will not be spent indoors doing housework.

So here I am sitting out on the decking enjoying a lovely cup of hazelnut cinnamon coffee and about to write a proposal for creating a craft club at work.

My view from the decking
laptop, proposal notes & coffee

The idea will be to get like minded folks together to  chat, share and work on projects. It will also be open to people who want to learn a craft, especially if retirement is looming and they want a hobby. We will also do presentations and demonstrations as well as classes.

I still have the idea to hold small classes at home. I will see how the ones at work go first.

Oh and in case anyone is wondering what the fluffy duster is for, it was to get rid of the cobwebs on the seat ;o).

Craft Fayre Success & Craft Club in the making...

The Craft Fayre I organise at my place of work which took place on June 18th during the lunch period, was a great success. I don’t think we had as many folks through the door as we have in the past but I still had some great sales. Unfortunately though I took my camera I forgot to take some photos, what a der brain I am!!!

I have also been in discussions with someone to set up a Craft Club that people can attend in their lunch break, to meet like-minded people and to work on their works in progress.  We will also organise talks, demonstrations and classes. My next step it to write the proposal to get the go ahead.

Rug hooking materials...

I have wanted to learn rug hooking for a while now and to design my own patterns.
I also want to use old cloths to hook with. I have found it difficult to find wool cloths in the charity shops so I thought I would try t-shirts.
I bought this pile from a charity shop
muted colours in stripes & floral

And cut them into strips

Then wound them onto some wooden spools I purchased many years ago and not got around to using in a craft project.
I have drawn my first design and I have some patterns coming from Lori of Not Forgotten Farm.
I haven’t cut all the t-shirts yet so when I have I will hook my design.
I will be back to let you know how I get on.

Works in progress

I thought I'd share some works on progress with you...

Frames for the Starfish

These frames are at the stage before I sand and buff them, add the hanger and finally the Starfish.

Breadboards ready for up cycling

another breadboard for up cycling, I just forgot to take the before pic!

I purchased these breadboards from the Air Ambulance charity shop in town. The large oval one has been well used and will give such a fab rustic finish to my sign. That's right these boards will become signs, they are perfect for them. The smaller board was probably a cheese board as there is a cut out section for the knife so I have to use the back for my sign.

The below photo's show the boards with their first coat of base colour.

The teardrop shape and small oval boards needed 3 coats but the large oval just needed the 2.
They have now received 2 coats of top colour moonlight white.

Do pop back in a few days for the next stage on these projects.

First Etsy Sale & Blog plan

I'm so excited, I opened my Etsy shop in January this year and I have just had my first sale woo hoo!!!

A lovely lady has purchased my pack of blueberry muffin scented candle/wax tarts, they smell so yummy you could eat them ;oD. They are going off to her today.

I don't have a lot of stock in my shop at the moment and my Folksy shop is getting less and less as my plan is to take some decent photo's of my items now I know how and re-stock gradually.

Now for the my blog plan.

Because I have a day job to go to ;0( I find I don't have the time to post all that regularly and especially not daily (which I would love to do) about my crafts, ideas, garden etc. So I have decided that I will post once a week, usually at the weekend (Friday through Sunday); that way I can update you on what I have been up to and so on.

The past two weekends I have been working on knew products for an upcoming craft fayre I organise at work during the lunch period June 18th just before Father's Day weekend.

Here is a taster:

Herb plant stakes
Lavender & wheat Cath Kidston fabric pillows
My own hand printed cushions
Embroidered panel cushion
Signs for Dad's as gifts for Father's Day
Framed starfish

I have my own cross stitch design models to make up and photograph so I can take my own patterns to the fayre also.
